Veterans- A free local resource

Vanderburgh County has approximately Thirteen Thousand Veterans living in this County alone.  Many veterans do not know that a free, local, and responsive office staffed with caring and knowledgeable/experienced people in an office in the Old Courthouse downtown is available to field their issues or questions that they may have related to their military service.  Services are not limited to those serving during war-time.

The Vanderburgh County Veteran’s Service Office offers a full range of services to Vanderburgh Co. veterans including:

  1. Assisting veterans and their dependents in filing claims for VA benefits at Federal and State levels.
  2. Assisting veterans with applications for military discharges, VA medical care, home loan certificates, and education benefits.
  3. Coordinating and conducting annual Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day programs.
  4. Assistance with property tax exemptions, DAV, Purple Heart, and POW license plate applications, and reduced fees for hunting and fishing license.

The office takes walk-ins and inquires by telephone as well.
